A spaceship in New York

A spaceship-like pavilion crammed with original artwork will land in New York’s Central Park this fall. It’s the latest stop in a worldwide advertising blitz by Chanel to pay homage to its iconic quilted handbag.

Renowned London architect Zaha Hadid was commissioned to create the 7,500-square-foot structure made of lightweight panels and fitted like a jigsaw puzzle. Organizers say the pavilion is like a handbag, “a completely portable and functional container.”

A new concept for Louis Vuitton’s flagship store

Louis Vuitton will be opening a new flagship store in Tokyo, Japan by 2010. The 10 story flagship store was designed by UNStudio.

“The flagship Louis Vuitton store in Japan aims to establish an architectural equivalent of the identity of Louis Vuitton in which classical and modern qualities are blended, reinforcing each other. The design inspires the visitor with a feeling of being in the House of Louis Vuitton by celebrating the qualities that make up the essence of the company, its products, its history and its future.” [source : dezeen]

Alice in Wonderland

I wish I were Alice in my Wonderland’s adventure, but where was Mister White Rabbit ?…. Technicolor Bloom is constructed from 1400 flat plywood panels to form a double-curved tunnel. Designed by Brennan Buck with Rob Henderson and students from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria
